This little poon doggie is looking for food. See how his eyes are angled up? Tarpon need to have the element of surprise when they feed. Their size makes it difficult to sneak up on prey.

Knowing that tarpon feed up will help fly anglers understand that the fish are looking up all the time when they look for food. Your fly then needs to be above the tarpon as well for the best chance of the fish even seeing the fly in the first place. If the fly is below the tarpon there is a good chance that the tarpon won't be able to see it.

Keep that fly above the tarpon and watch your catch rate go up.
