The Zymoetz River (also known as the Copper River) connects with the Skeena near Terrace. Because it is closer to tidewater than any of the other major fall steelhead rivers, this is the best place to find large steelhead in August. Zymoetz steelhead are most commonly two- or three-salt fish weighing from 10 to 20 pounds, but anglers catch larger fish each year.

Because Zymoetz steelhead enter the river early in the season, they are aggressive fish that pounce on floating-line presentations with a skating or waking fly or a greased-line approach with a small wet fly. Like the Kispiox, the Zymoetz has a reputation for dirty water, but while the river is glacially influenced, the mud most often comes from bank erosion and mudslides on the lower river and its tributaries. There are 40 kilometers of riverside road; if the river is muddy near Terrace, keep driving upstream until conditions improve or the road runs out. Upstream from the end of the road, the Zymoetz runs through an enormous wilderness area accessible only to helicopters or ambitious hikers.
