The second of Lawrence Waldron's vises is the Traveler, which shares many of the design features of the Bench model in a more compact design. The jaws are rotary, revolving in a machined Delrin® barrel, but do not rotate on axis. On axis rotation can be nearly achieved by inverting the jaws and adjusting them to the horizontal position. However, this leaves insufficient clearance at the rear of the hook for easy tying. If true rotary is desired, other vises in this price class will serve you better.

The shorter jaws incorporate the same lever type lock-up mechanism as Waldron's Bench model, with the same star-shaped thumb screw. Like its big brother, the Traveler's jaws incorporate hook pockets to handle large hooks securely. To achieve compactness, the vise has little room to rest one's off-hand while tying.

The accessories that complement the Bench model, like a bobbin holder and profile plate, can be used with the Traveler. The standrod is a machined, two-piece affair allowing easy use with either the C-clamp or pedestal. Included with the vise is a hard foam tray, which slips onto the standrod for temporary storage of hooks and small pieces of material.
